Grootberg Lodge - Damaraland

We got great value for our money with a room that had amazing views. The location of the hotel was fine, with amazing views of the canyon. The staff treated us like friends and made our stay nice.

The breakfast experience could have been better with more variety and options.

De locatie was perfect, vlakbij het metrostation en op loopafstand van de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden. Het ontbijt was heerlijk en er was een grote variëteit aan keuzes. We waren onder de indruk van de faciliteiten van het hotel en genoten van de gemakkelijke parkeermogelijkheden.

We had an really good stay at a high-end lodge in an amazing location! The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The views from the lodge were fine and we enjoyed the family bungalow with its amazing vantage point. Despite the small pool being cold, we loved lounging by it and spotting colorful lizards. we highly recommend this lodge for its fine location, excellent food, and friendly staff.

There was nothing I didn't like.

During my recent business trip to Damaraland, I had the pleasure of staying at Grootberg Lodge. Our director chose this hotel for our stay, and I must say it was an excellent choice. The lodge offers a range of facilities that made our stay enjoyable. The deck provides a perfect spot to unwind with a sundowner, while the inviting pool was a refreshing treat after a long day of work. These amenities truly added to the overall experience, ensuring that we had moments of relaxation and enjoyment amidst our busy schedule.

Check-in at Grootberg Lodge was a little tricky, as there were many staff members but no clear direction on who to approach.

The lodge had stunning views and the chalets were cozy and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner served at the restaurant were delicious. The staff at the restaurant and reception were friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable.

One downside was the expensive price of the sundowner drive, which we found to be overpriced for the duration and activities provided. Additionally, the pool was often dirty due to bird droppings, which made it unappealing to use.

From the moment we arrived at the lower gate, the adrenaline started pumping. We joined the Black Rhino Custodian Programme and got up close and personal with these magnificent creatures. Guided walks on the plateau were a blast, unless the lions were around, of course. And let's not forget the Black Eagles hunting just below our private deck - it was like living in a wildlife documentary!

The only thing I would have asked for is more options for young party-goers. While the lodge caters to nature and conservation enthusiasts, a few more activities or events for us fun-loving teenagers would have made the experience even more unforgettable.
